Job Description

The US State Tax Compliance Specialist is responsible for performing simple to moderately complex State Tax activities. The role contributes to the income tax reporting and compliance of AECOM and its Subsidiaries with the different US State Tax Authorities and their Tax regulations focusing on the preparation and filing of U.S. state income tax returns and calculation of state tax adjustments for provision. The role performs analytical processes under the moderate guidance of the Onshore State Manager and other senior team members.

 

Prepares State tax forms for US State Compliance.Performs intermediate level processes within Tax SoftwareSubmits the tax returns to State Tax Authorities through paper or electronic filing.Tracks and maintains carry forward amounts such as NOLs, prior year overpayment and other payments and credits to assist with compliance and tax calculationsAssists in State Audits, Notice Tracking and addresses simple to moderately complex inquiries and requests from State Auditors and State Tax Authorities.Completes research to support positions taken in the tax returns, recognizes and escalates project issues to Onshore State Tax Manager and other senior team membersWorks with accounting, finance, treasury, and relevant parties from different segment to gather financials, apportionment schedules, and supporting calculations to assist in the completion of projects assignedEscalate and analyse identified issues and concerns to the Onshore State Tax Manager and/or Team Lead for timely resolution.Maintain the SOP/DTP of current processes and incorporate documentation updates as required.Assess identified issues and collate documentation to assist in investigating and in resolving common and recurring issues.Perform simple but varied tasks in compliance with service level agreement, process, policies, and procedures.Support selected simple process improvement initiatives to streamline processes.
