Your Role
As a Gensler Urban Designer/Planner, you will create and work with a growing design team to develop strong, creative, and innovative design concepts on a range of urban design and master planning projects. Gensler is the world's largest architecture, design, and planning firm with offices in 50 locations worldwide. As a natural outgrowth of Gensler's core business of creating great places, our Cities + Urban Design practice area aims to deliver a range of performance-focused design strategy and planning services to an ever-expanding group of organizations and institutions.
What You Will Do
Contribute and co-lead in the design and development of strong, creative, and innovative design concepts on a broad range of urban design and master planning projects, including urban infill developments, mixed-use developments, community and neighborhood-scale master plans, and district and citywide planning projects
Develop and collaborate in creating conceptual and schematic designs of urban design and master planning scale projects
Prepare narrative reports and presentations that communicate the design process and concepts
Assist in presentations and production of urban design and master planning projects
Assist in business development for the Cities and Urban Design practice area
Take part in office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
Interact through projects and other office-wide initiatives with other studios and practice areas
Support project teams and initiatives with an emerging degree of autonomy but aligned with a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule
Actively engage in internal and external professional development opportunities.
Demonstrate leadership in implementing sustainable strategies in all project assignments and staff knowledge development
Participate in marketing, proposal preparation, interviews, and other promotional activities
Ability to work on multiple projects and coordinate tasks and subconsultant disciplines.
Your Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of related urban design and planning experience
Undergraduate in Architecture, Urban Planning, or Landscape Architecture
A master’s degree in architecture, urban design, planning, or equivalent is a plus
Strong knowledge of land use planning for residential, retail, commercial, and mixed-use development
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams through master plan development
Strong research skills with urban planning, zoning, and policy
Strong written and spoken communication skills, including assembling presentations and reports
Proficient in Revit, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, Rhino, and ArcGIS
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required
Committed to sustainable design principles and resilient communities, able to demonstrate this commitment in a portfolio of work.
