Amazon’s Global Supplier Management team (GSM) Procurement team is responsible for the strategy, development and execution of the global supplier management activity for the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) overseeing a spend of $40B+. As our Global Supplier Management (GSM) team continues to grow, we are seeking Sr. Program Managers to partner with internal business owners and key stakeholders to drive procurement and operational value for Amazon. This role leads the development and execution of procurement sub-tier vendors as well as our key supplier partners. Our Global Procurement Sr. Program Managers drive efficiencies in procurement execution, enable engineering efficiencies through effective partnership with Amazon’s design teams, and support Amazon’s long-term business interests through supplier partnerships. The GSM team will work with Category Teams, Project Management Organization (PMO), Finance, Global Engineering Services (GES), etc. to accomplish key deliverables across the indirect spend. The primary objectives of the GSM team are to work with critical suppliers and internal teams to improve ROI for the business through impactful supplier management activities and delivery execution. The GSM team is focused on mitigating risk, improving supplier performance, drive Amazons sustainability and diversity goals through supplier partners.
Our Global Procurement Organization (GPO) team manages the procurement lifecycle of complex projects necessary to support Amazon’s growth and customer commitments. This work includes initial project planning based on Amazon’s Plan of Record (POR), development of sourcing strategies, supplier approvals, qualifications for scope of work, the solicitation of firm pricing proposals, and proposal analysis, review, and acceptance, culminating in issuance of Amazon Purchase Orders (POs) for services. Post-PO, our team serves as a critical resource resolving start up escalations and supplier issues and existing FC’s (Fulfillment Centers), partnering closely with Category teams.
The nature of this scope requires a Sr. Program Manager to work across organizations and influence internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the Global Program Manager works with stakeholders to drive strategy, enable execution, and identify and mitigate risks. Externally, this role serves as one of the primary supplier-facing roles and is responsible for ensuring Amazon’s policies are adhered to and interests are achieved.
This role is expected to operate both at the tactical and strategic level.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead key global supplier management initiatives with internal & external stakeholders to mitigate supplier supply chain risk and enable Amazon’s sustainability goals
- Track and analyze global political events, trade policies, sanctions, and regulatory changes that could impact supplier operations.
- Evaluate supplier exposure to geopolitical risks, ESG, & cyber security risk including trade restrictions, conflicts, and compliance concerns.
- Partner with internal teams to develop risk mitigation strategies, including alternative sourcing and contingency planning.
- Collaborate with third-party risk intelligence providers to enhance monitoring capabilities.
- Develop dashboards and reports to communicate key risks and insights to senior leadership.
- Lead cross-functional team to work on supplier diversification based on supplier performance, quality and supplier risk.
- Support common (standard work), including the supplier development process, supplier selection process, supplier capacity & safety initiatives and continued managed expansion of the supplier base
- Support multi-year strategic plans for Amazon spend and supplier base development, including implementation of plans to maximize supplier performance: capacity, cost, quality, delivery, and safety
- Facilitate suppliers’ understanding of Amazon policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, safety, risk, services and quality expectations
- Develop and utilize improved metrics and data driving decision making capabilities to improve overall organizational capability through systems and processes and drive continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives throughout the organization
- Establish strong relationships with internal business partners; build a robust understanding of strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories
- Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controller ship improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies; maintaining procurement ethics in accordance with Amazon’s global policies
- Travel up to 30-40%

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- 5+ years of regulatory and risk management experience
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management in indirect categories such as professional services, support or maintenance spend, supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
