Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D is recruiting for a Senior Principal Engineer, Investigator and Patient Solutions (I&PS). This position is a hybrid role and can be located in Raritan, NJ; Titusville, NJ; or Spring House, PA. The Senior Principal Engineer will provide operational and strategic leadership to patient and site-facing solutions related to resource, budget, and portfolio management. This role has responsibility for coordinating and planning, driving technical operations, services, and related projects and processes for capabilities administered by I&PS. This Senior Principal Engineer will manage the interface between stakeholders, system, and processes, to ensure that all capabilities are aligned and effectively executing against identified organizational goals for capabilities supporting site staff enablement and training. Provide input to operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of department results for the Digital Research and Development (R&D) area. This position plays a critical role in the growth and development of the group and contributes to organizational effectiveness, transparency, and communication as a matrix leader driving projects, innovation, and capability growth or as a People Manager, through the recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development of people while building an inclusive and diverse working environment. Principal Responsibilities: + Lead high-impact technology projects to enhance site staff engagement, digital health, patient recruitment, study management/oversight and digital collaboration across clinical trials. + Lead/manage a high-functioning and diverse team to enable industry-leading, inspection-ready practices for supported capabilities, with a focus on delivering measurable value for stakeholders. + Explore internal and external trends to identify emerging technologies and potential opportunities to enhance clinical trial support systems through agile experimentation and design thinking. + Maintain a strategic focus on customer satisfaction, ensuring solutions are beneficial, meet regulatory compliance standards and are tailored to the needs of clinical study teams. + Prepare and manage financial plans, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation for technology projects and/or base business activities. + Oversee the application of project management best practices, ensuring all technology implementations follow structured processes, from planning to training. + Lead anticipation, early detection, prevention and management of risks and issues impacting departmental deliverables and activities. + Develop both short- and long-term technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with clinical, operational, and Information Technology (IT) strategies. + Lead knowledge-sharing efforts, fostering lessons learned across the department and with IT to improve system utilization and engagement strategies. + Represent the department during System/Process audits and Sponsor Inspections for supported capabilities. + May provide people leadership with responsibility for hiring, attracting, and retaining top talent, performance management, career development and HR administration for direct reports. May also take responsibilities of second level line management (i.e., leader of leaders). + Train and mentor colleagues. + Serve as Owner for I&PS capabilities. + May serve as Global Development Process Owner for specific capabilities. + Represent on/lead cross-functional organizational initiatives. Qualifications: + A minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent University degree is required, preferably in Health, Science, Information Technology or related discipline. + A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in clinical trial execution or operations with a Pharmaceutical or Medical Device company or a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) is required. + Proficiency supporting Information Technology systems and related processes that support clinical development, reporting tools, Office 365 applications, and database administration is required. + Solid understanding of the drug development process, including Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and FDA Code of Federal Regulations, is required. + Strong experience with learning management systems is required. + Project management experience is preferred. + Project Management or Process Improvement certification is preferred. + Must have excellent communication skills. + Must have strong problem-solving and prioritization skills. + Must have a global mindset. + The ability to partner with all levels of management and influence decision making across a matrix organization is required. + This position will require 10% domestic and international travel. The anticipated base pay range for this position in all other U.S. locations is $137,000 to $235,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
