Role Overview
The Research and Development Sciences value team in, Research and Development IT brings together product management, engineering, and data science expertise to enable data and technology products and services that accelerate our scientists' ability to discover and develop innovative medicines that change the course of human health. Our IT team operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation and advance the drug discovery and development pipeline.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary DevSecOps Lead Engineer to champion and integrate security best practices throughout our software development lifecycle (SDLC) and cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and leading our DevSecOps strategy, ensuring our applications and infrastructure are secure by design and remain resilient against threats. This role requires a blend of strong technical leadership, hands-on engineering skills, and a passion for automating security controls within CI/CD pipelines.
What will you do in this role
Lead & Strategize: Develop, implement, and champion the company's DevSecOps strategy, standards, and roadmap, fostering a security-first culture across engineering teams.
Automate Security Integration: Design, integrate, and manage automated security tools and processes (SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC scanning) within CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
Secure Infrastructure & Containers: Implement and enforce security best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Mentor & Collaborate: Lead and mentor engineers on secure coding and DevSecOps practices; collaborate effectively with Development, Operations, and Security teams.
Monitor & Respond: Implement security monitoring and alerting; contribute to threat modeling, vulnerability management, incident response, and ensure compliance alignment.
Evaluate & Improve: Continuously evaluate and implement new security technologies and processes to enhance the DevSecOps toolchain and overall security posture.
What should you have
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of Proven experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Security Engineering role.
2+ years of Demonstrable experience specifically focused on DevSecOps practices and principles.
Relevant certifications from AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional.
Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
Strong experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineering teams.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools - GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools - Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their security services.
Experience integrating and utilizing security scanning tools (SAST, DAST, SCA,).
Strong scripting skills - Python, Bash, Go
Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) security.
Knowledge of network security concepts (firewalls, VPNs, WAFs) and common application security vulnerabilities .
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
