Senior Manager, Operations and Sales Support, Scotia Leasing, Canadian Business Banking


Purpose


Leads the Scotia Leasing Sales and Product Support operations ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 


Contributes to the success of the Canadian Business Bank through partnership support and collaboration.  Champions customer focused culture and keeping the bank safe.
This role supports Scotia Leasing, a division of Canadian Business Banking to develop and maintain the Leasing portfolio of Small Business, Commercial and Corporate divisions.  


Accountabilities:


•    Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•    Effectively manages the quality and efficiency of day-to-day operations by ensuring proper controls and risk management processes are in place. Leads the delivery of client service to Scotia Leasing clients.
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Leads and manages direct reports, builds a cohesive team and ensures effective use of human resources to support the business objectives
•    Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

•    Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations independently and provide solutions for our partners and clients within the parameters of our policies.
•    Ability to develop strategic relationships with their team and partners and influence decisions that align to the Canadian Commercial Banks strategies and goals.
•    Contribute to the inclusive culture of the team and engaged in supporting the psychological safety and diversity of the Commercial Bank. 
•    Ability to understand of policies and procedures using judgement to apply accordingly based on circumstance and situation to provide excellent service to the client while keeping the Bank and our partners safe.
 

Education / Experience / Other Information:
 


•    Post-secondary education in Business or Finance 
•    Experience in the leasing field with exposure to structuring transactions an asset
•    Strong and proven People Management/Leadership and People Development experience required

•    Strong administrative, management, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills 
•    Ability to prioritize work demands to juggle and pivot 
•    Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills  
•    Strong interpersonal skills
 •   Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, Power BI, Sharepoint
•    Strong knowledge of all Bank commercial products, including pricing, security documentation requirements, with a basic understanding of credit as it relates to leasing, ideal to have

 

Reporting Relationships:

 

Primary Manager: Director, Workplace, Technology & Operations

     Direct Reports (3): Manager, Equipment Financing, Manager, Portfolio Management, Manager, Special Projects      Shared Reports: Oversees an operations team of ~18 FTE

                                        
Working Conditions:


•    Work in a standard office-based environment: currently a Hybrid work arrangement is in place which is subject to change based on the needs of the business. 
•    Non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
