POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role of Senior Counsel, Legal is a full-time attorney position within Asurion’s Legal Team and has responsibility to support drafting and negotiating of commercial client agreements, including external-facing contract negotiations. Senior Counsel, Legal will provide day-to-day support for Asurion’s client services teams, including facilitating discussions designed to consistently provide cross-functional communication and guidance for activities requiring legal support.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic project leader, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong time management, communication and prioritization skills, management experience, and prior corporate and commercial legal experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides support for client contract compliance and commercial mattersWorks to support internal client needs, and act as a liaison and brokers creative solutions for relevant stakeholdersDevelops a thorough understanding of Asurion’s business, processes and goals to provide innovative legal solutions that solve unique or challenging problemsEstablishes strong collaborative relationships with cross functional team, including legal, underwriting, finance, tax, treasury, supply chain management, and client servicesDemonstrates strong analytical skills and judgment to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situationsActs as a trusted advisor and leader to drive results/complete transactions & projects efficiently and effectivelyActively seeks operational understanding and implications of initiatives and implements process improvements to streamline support

Qualified:

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the bar7-10+ years of relevant experience  Experience in commercial transactions, including client agreement negotiations is required; in house, corporate experience is a plusDemonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider and address the internal client or business while mitigating risk exposureExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to spot potential issues quicklyMust be able to independently handle a variety and number of legal matters with minimal supervision and manage other team membersSchedules and prioritizes work and deliverables to ensure on-time response to a large variety of changing demands/requests/requirementsHighly organized and driven to thoroughly understand the issue and the possible implications of legal guidance


SKILLS:

Technical skills:

Previous insurance and/or service contract regulatory compliance experience

Experience in marketing, advertisement, and consumer protection

Must possess strong judgment, confidence, collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to spot potential issues quickly.

Schedules and prioritizes work and deliverables to ensure on-time response to a large variety of changing demands/requests/requirements.

Aptitude and motivation for staying current with regulatory changes in insurance, service contract and consumer protection regulations.





Soft/Leadership skills:

Demonstrates good analytical skills and judgment.

Ability to influence and guide senior executives.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively understand, consider and address the client or business while mitigating risk exposure.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Education and Experience

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the bar (must be able to be admitted in TN)

10+ years of relevant experience
