Join us. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking an experienced **Safety , Health and Environment (SH&E) Specialist** to be based in our **Baltimore, MD** office in the Mid-Atlantic region to support the Frederick Douglass Tunnel (FDT) Program among other project opportunities available at AECOM. The successful candidate will be part of an integrated team consisting of Amtrak, AECOM, Jacobs Engineering, and many other subconsultants responsible for a wide range of safety and health services across the Program. We are looking for a proven professional in the industry who understands safety and health regulations and has the ability to implement a variety of support services for our client. This is an on-site safety position supporting the FDT program. **The successful candidate will be capable of executing the following responsibilities of this position with limited supervision:** **Responsibilities and Duties:** + Participate in construction status meetings, covering all safety and health topics, recommendations, and requests + Maintain a program-wide safety program compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). This includes field construction activity safety programs as well as managed subcontractor safety programs + Assist as needed in investigating job injuries to identify and verify incident origin and possible work-related hazards + Responsible for establishing and recommending to the client necessary action to investigate unsafe work practices + Establish a collaborative relationship with the client’s Operation team to facilitate the management of SH&E aspects of Construction activities. + Participate in client safety meetings and programs as requested. + Attend and facilitate client-specific training and initiatives as requested. + Prepare and provide construction safety and health training as requested. + Conduct safety audits or inspections on a routine, unannounced basis + Review and comment to the client on contractor-submitted safety plans prior to commencement of construction activities + Perform instructor duties for AECOM employees on safety and health-related topics, coordinating as necessary with the Program Construction Manager. **Qualifications** **Minimum:** + BA/BS plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Experience working on large construction projects + Valid Driver’s License to operate an AECOM-provided motor vehicle on construction project site(s) to support project tasks assignments and scope of work. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle records review. **Preferred Qualifications** : + BA/BS in Occupational Health or similar curriculum and 6 years of construction safety experience + Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) management + Proficient and experience in written business communications skills + Experience working in a team environment + Experience with project multi-tasking within a fast-paced work environment + Certifications – such as CHST certification or equivalent + OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification + Recognized credentials (i.e., ASP, CSP, CIHT, STSC) are favorable **Additional Information** + In order to receive a security badge at the client worksite for which you are being hired to perform services, you will be required to pass the client's background screening requirements, which will be done after you have commenced employment and is a condition of your continued employment + This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future + Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not offered for this position Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
