Research Engineer, CV/ML Algorithms (XR Eyes)
**Summary:** The XR Eyes team is part of Reality Labs and develops and productizes cutting-edge Eye Tracking CV/ML solutions that power next-gen AR/VR devices. Our Eye Tracking solutions enable fundamental use cases and technologies in areas such as Photorealistic Avatars (Social Presence), Graphics, Display and Optics, and Multimodal UI Interaction. The team has already shipped eye-tracking solutions in the Quest Pro (2022 VR/MR headset) and Orion (2024 AR Glasses) and is working on several next generation devices across AR & MR.The team is composed of Computer Vision, Machine Learning and SW Engineers. We work cross-functionally with teams across multiple disciplines, such as graphics, optics, silicon, and sensors, to design and develop novel Eye Tracking solutions tailored for the requirements and constraints of each particular device. **Required Skills:** Research Engineer, CV/ML Algorithms (XR Eyes) Responsibilities: 1. Develop and productize new CV/ML algorithms for object detection, pose estimation, tracking 2. Explore the development and deployment of foundation models to generalize Eye Tracking performance to heterogenous devices, provide supervision for smaller models, automate annotations 3. Optimize models for computationally efficient inference on resource constrained (mobile) devices 4. Complete medium to large features independently 5. Interface with other teams, collaborate cross-functionally 6. Design tools to ease debugging ML models and CV algorithms 7. Proactively identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase, product area and/or systems 8. Conduct design and code reviews **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 9. 2+ years of experience working on ML algorithm development 10. 2+ years of programming experience in Python and SQL 11. 1+ years of experience designing and completing medium to large features independently 12. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment 13. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 14. Has a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics or similar 15. Has a track record of impactful publications at major Computer Vision and ML conferences or journals 16. 1+ year of programming experience in C++ **Public Compensation:** $56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits **Industry:** Internet **Equal Opportunity:** Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
