R&D Team Manager, Mechanical

Your role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.The work model for the role is onsite in New Berlin, WisconsinPlease note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tDesign mechanical components to meet product specifications and requirements.•\tEvaluate components for implementation and cost reduction.•\tPrototyping mechanical components using both additive manufacturing and traditional fabrication design.•\tPrepare specifications, BOM (bill of material) and related documents in accordance with requirements, established formats, and general instructions.•\tPlan, conduct or coordinate engineering analyses and tests, and prepare related reports and summaries, for review.•\tParticipate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences. •\tAssist in the performance of functional and agency tests. •\tCreate, update and maintain lab procedures and processes related to safety and functionality.•\tOrganize lab and test equipment for 6S and safety compliance.

Qualifications for the role

\tCurrently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, in the United States. \tIntern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite. \tMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future. \tUtilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions\tEffectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines\tDemonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality\tCollaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress
