Quality Engineer, Same Unit Repair

What you will be doing:
The Quality Engineer for Same Unit Repair will drive quality improvement in an assigned area of Asurion’s Same Unit Repair (SUR) programs. The Quality Engineer will lead projects during all phases of project launch, including advanced quality planning, quality control and quality improvement. The Quality Engineer, through use of quality tools, will evaluate existing or new processes to achieve best in class quality for Asurion products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise around core quality tools, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action and advanced quality planning.
Lead and conduct quality activities during project planning (i.e., advanced quality planning) and throughout the program life cycle
Monitor quality performance, identify performance gaps and implement countermeasures in SUR programs at second party partners (e.g., service providers, parts suppliers) and Asurion operations
Design and implement processes that ensure quality and foster a strong quality culture among third party partners and Asurion operations
Host training sessions to improve tech proficiency.
Support First Article Inspection (FAI) process for new suppliers.
Create and maintain process documentation
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, especially client program teams, third party repair providers, parts suppliers and Asurion operations.
Participate in and lead Quality Improvement activities to provide technical assistance.
Drive and Lead Failure Analysis Process in an effort improve repair performance.
Report project progress and results to management.
Provide input to Supply Chain Management Leadership regarding SUR quality opportunities and changes in requirements
Conduct process and compliance audits at second party and Asurion operations
Identify best practices for repair processes and train second party or Asurion operations
Evaluate and improve methods, tools and measurement systems to ensure compliance and performance to quality requirements
Facilitate maintenance of repair technician training records at second party or Asurion operations
Here’s what you’ll bring to the team:
Bachelor's degree in engineering-related field or similar, with experience in or closely related to quality engineering, quality systems, or process improvement. Candidates must bring demonstrated exposure to quality-focused work.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience emphasizing process design and improvement activities.
Ability to analyze data for improvement opportunities.
Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills.
Excellent time management, technical writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization
Ability to be self-managed and set priorities.
Moderate-to-advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred experience in mobility repair processes or consumer electronics.
Preferred experience in Retail/Field Quality Management.
Ability to travel 15-25%
