Primary Function / Goals / ObjectivesFollow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.Report any current or potential hazards to your immediate manager immediatelyThe correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times.  Consult the appropriate SOP where required.The Projects Engineer is responsible for consulting any SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.Housekeeping is a critical function of all jobs and the Project Engineer is expected to ensure all personnel working under his/her supervision ensure housekeeping activities are observed and carried out appropriately.  It is important that the Project Engineer is in adherence to the Housekeeping SOP.It is important that GMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.He/she must help establish with the Manufacturing Manager the departmental goals, schedules and timetables for activities.Establish communication lines with all other departments e.g. Engineering, Q.A., Materials, Human Resources, EHS, Technical Operation Support and Finance.Plan and schedule work in accordance with plant demand and available manpower.Maintain adequate stores stock levels and ensure proper in/out control.Ensure compliance with Abbott International Global Standards, GMP & Environmental requirements.Responsible for promoting good employee relations.Ensure all Abbott employees and contractors under his/her direction are fully familiar with all Safety Rules Regulations.Assist Manufacturing Manager in preparation of capital budgets and aim to improve efficiencies (OEE’s) and to be cost effective. Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Manufacturing Department and participate in ongoing change and plant wide business excellence projects.Manage department finances within the annual organizational plan.Deputise for other Engineers, project managers and front line leaders in their absence.Coordinate and direct external contractors to ensure adherence to safety, quality, hygiene and cGMP procedures.Deputize for the Manufacturing Manager when required.Maintain a positive employee relations atmosphere.  Ensure that there is good communication and co-operation by encouraging knowledge sharing and open exchange of ideas within the Plant. Manage team effectively through coaching and counselling where appropriate lead by example at all times.Get cost estimates for capital projects as required.Prepare RCEs as required.  Train, direct and supervise staff.Provide Manufacturing Manager with status report of all projects, as required including KPIs.Act as a SME (Subject Matters Expert) for specific tasks e.g. ER, CAPA Systems.Participate in Personal Learning and Development.Ensure continued implementation of the Performance Excellence initiative completing all goals, performance reviews and growth plans accordingly.This Job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible were this need arises. 

Major ResponsibilitiesManage and co-ordinate projects in the Department and establishment of KPI’s to measure performance, maintaining close liaison with managers in other departments with the aim of improving production efficiencies by means of a team approach.Co-ordinate staff training and development on new projects in conjunction with the Learning and Development Manager.

Education Required:Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Knowledge7 years relevant experience in Engineering.The ability to organise, motivate and understand people.Ability to write clear and concise reports.Good interpersonal /communication skills.Good computer skills.

Accountability / ScopeDeviation from specification or failure to take corrective action or follow procedures for any period of time could have serious financial and quality consequences. Where non-conformances occur in the Manufacturing Area this can lead to delays to the schedule and achievement of customer service goals
