Program Manager - OpEx, WHS Operational Excellence
Description The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Operational Excellence (OpEx) team develops scalable mechanisms to support Amazon’s commitment to safety excellence. We allocate people, resources, and technology to implement effective and efficient processes that deliver results. We partner with variousorganizations across Amazon to identify, prioritize, and execute projects that optimize safety performance and drive continuous improvement. Amazon is seeking a Program Manager to help build and grow newly developed programs across the global WHS organization. In this role, you will support the development of the safety center of excellence, focused on creating best practice sharing and improvement mechanisms to drive operational performance. You will develop a strategy for using internal resources to reduce operational risk, streamline WHS/EHS business processes, and drive automation of manual workflows. You will identify best practices, facilitate sharing across business units, and support integration into organizational standards. This role will also actively benchmark internal programs against external initiatives, measure program effectiveness, and identify best-in-class solutions to help solve current and future business challenges. As such, this role requires a candidate who enjoys developing processes, leveraging technology to implement best practice solutions, and scaling new ideas while also delivering results. The ideal candidate is someone who has background building tools to improve business productivity, and experience generating grass-roots solutions to improve compliance. Serving as trusted advisor, you will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide guidance on emerging technologies and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. You will leverage your knowledge of AWS products and services (ie. Q Business, LLMs, Quicksight, GenAI, UX design, etc.) to implement mechanisms that drive program scalability and utilization. This position will directly influence how we design, build, and deliver safety programs, which will improve the experience of frontline safety teams and stakeholders globally. Key job responsibilities - Strong emphasis on developing scalable mechanisms/tools to support benchmarking, program optimization, and continuous improvement of new and existing WHS programs - Partner with internal stakeholders to deep dive current challenges, understand pain points, and use feedback to iterate program improvements - Create and implement improvement programs, best practice standards, and knowledge sharing mechanisms to drive efficiencies and reduce burden on frontline leaders and teams - Oversee the planning, execution, and tracking of Pillar projects ensuring alignment with strategic goals - Solve complex challenges using internal tools and resources (ie. Amazon Q Business, Quicksight, LLMs, etc.) to improve user experience and utilization - Establish baseline KPIs and goal objectives to monitor program effectiveness, identify risks, increase adoption, and implement solutions. - Create process documents, SOPs, policy/procedures, and supplement resource guides to supporting project initiative - Author regular weekly/monthly/quarterly business updates for project portfolio, ensuring clear visibility of scope, key objectives, milestones, project risk, and performance toward goals - Conduct post mortem evaluations and identify strengths/weakness, effectiveness and opportunities for revision - Position includes some travel up to 20% A day in the life PLEASE NOTE: This role requires frequent collaboration with teams located in multiple geographies and time zones. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of program or project management experience - Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership - Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements - Bachelor's degree - Experience creating and implementing improvement programs, best practice standards, and knowledge sharing mechanisms across multiple regions and geographies Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of defining and executing against program timeline & requirements experience - 5+ years of developing program strategies and plans, diving execution, and influencing senior stakeholders experience - Experience of building solutions using AWS service tools and technologies (ie. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
