Job Purpose and ImpactThe Process Safety Specialist is a subject matter authority who works closely with maintenance and process safety teams to ensure compliance with environmental and process safety regulations and resource conservation in the plant. In this role, you will lead, at low-to-medium complex facilities, or assist in leading at high complex facilities, the implementation, execution and maintenance of the process safety management systems. You will be responsible for in-depth understanding and application of safe, compliant operational practices and demonstrate compliance with company policy, work processes, programs and standards. You will facilitate continuous improvement in resource conservation and develop and maintain energy and other utility key performance indicator reporting in support of operations.
Key Accountabilities Ensure facility adherence to governmental process safety management standards while implementing and maintaining all aspects of process safety management for the site. Identify process safety management capital projects and work with the capital management team to prioritize and implement projects. Understand, localize and integrate company and legally required work processes, programs and controls into site level operating procedures, tools, and work instructions to standardize front line processes and monitor, analyze and adjust for improved process safety performance. Analyze resource usage trends and assist in optimization of systems for peak efficiency and develop and implement reporting to ensure consistent monitoring and early warning indicators. Assist in the training and development for behavioral based conservation, process safety and processes for utilities department technicians. Plan and schedule maintenance of plant utility systems using reliability model and predictive technologies in collaboration with maintenance leadership. Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
