Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech **Job Summary:** The **Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Services** will lead and supervise a dedicated team of engineers, maintenance supervisors and technicians, calibration specialists, and metrology professionals, managing all aspects of manufacturing facilities, calibration, and engineering projects within the manufacturing environment. This role is integral to ensuring operational excellence and the efficient functioning of technical services within the organization. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Team Leadership** : Oversee and mentor engineers, supervisors and technicians in maintenance, calibration, and metrology, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development. Capable of leading a team across departmental borders to promote collaboration and innovative solutions. + **Asset Management** : Implement and manage effective asset management processes to optimize the lifecycle of equipment and machinery, ensuring reliability and operational efficiency. + **Machine Safety** : Ensure that all equipment and processes meet safety standards and regulations, implementing safety protocols and conducting regular audits to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel. + **CMMS Management** : Oversee administration and enhancement the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to track maintenance activities, equipment performance, and resource allocation. + **Manufacturing Oversight** : Proactively assess and analyze manufacturing technologies, processes, and systems to implement improvements, ensuring that operations comply with regulations and operate with maximum cost benefit. + **Spare Parts Management** : Develop and manage an inventory system for spare parts to minimize downtime and ensure timely availability of necessary components. + **Engineering Projects** : Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects aimed at improving operational performance and quality, while fostering a safe and productive working environment. + **Environment and Culture** : Maintain optimal working conditions for all personnel and develop programs that enhance service levels and quality. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and service throughout all operations. + **Budget Management** : Develop, monitor, and manage the budget for the production maintenance department, ensuring optimal use of resources and adherence to financial targets. + **Continuous Improvement** : Proactively keep up to date with current and emerging technologies to drive innovation and enhance operational efficiency within the manufacturing environment. + **Safety, Quality, and Service Ambassador** : Champion a culture of safety, quality, and service at all organizational levels, promoting best practices and ensuring adherence to standards. + **Team Leadership** : Guide and develop the team through Credo decision-making principles, fostering mentorship and conducting performance management to enhance individual and team growth. + **Manufacturing Floor Involvement** : Actively support the team by participating in process confirmations and being present on the manufacturing floor to address real-time issues and ensure operational efficiency. + **Process and Tool Design Support** : Collaborate on the design and implementation of new manufacturing processes, tools, procedures, and production layouts to improve productivity and efficiency. + **Compliance Assurance** : Ensure all processes and procedures comply with relevant regulations and internal standards, conducting regular reviews and updates as necessary. + **Corrective and Preventive Actions** : Initiate and oversee corrective and preventive actions to address safety, quality, and service concerns, ensuring continuous improvement within operations. + **New Product Introduction Support** : Facilitate the integration of New Product Introductions (NPI) into manufacturing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions and successful launches. + **Issue Resolution** : Address and escalate product and process complaints promptly, working towards effective solutions and preventing recurrences. + **SOP Development and Adaptation** : Support the development and adaptation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring they are current, effective, and aligned with operational needs. + **Technical Services Escalation Point** : Serve as an escalation point for Technical Services, providing expertise and support to resolve complex technical issues. + **Quality System Audits** : Conduct audits across all quality system categories to assess compliance with process excellence standards and identify areas for improvement. + **Supervision of Preventive Maintenance and Calibration Teams** : Oversee and manage the Preventive Maintenance and Calibration teams, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out effectively and efficiently to sustain operational excellence. **Qualifications:** Education + Bachelor’s degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred. Work experience: + Over 6 years of relevant work and leadership experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry. Specific knowledge + **Regulatory Standards Proficiency** : Demonstrated working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO 13485 (Quality Management Systems for Medical Devices), and ISO 14971 (Risk Management for Medical Devices). + **Understanding of Work Instructions** : Familiarity with relevant work instructions and procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance in manufacturing operations. + **Manufacturing Principles Expertise** : Solid understanding of fundamental manufacturing principles, including production processes, quality control, and operational efficiency. + **CMMS Knowledge** : Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly Maximo, to optimize maintenance processes and track equipment performance. + **Automation Technologies** : Knowledge of automation technologies and their application in manufacturing environments to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. + **Lean Six Sigma Certification** : Preferably certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, with training in Fast Product Development (FPX), demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization. + **Computer Proficiency** : Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in standard office software and familiarity with engineering or manufacturing software tools used to enhance productivity and data management.
