Job Summary
This position is with the Integrated Small Animal Imaging Research Resource (iSAIRR) core facility. iSAIRR provides state-of-the-art multi-modality animal imaging services to investigators across the University as well as other institutions. The role performs basic laboratory tasks/duties and assists with supporting users’ research in the microPET/SPECT/CT, MRI, ultrasound, and optical imaging sub-cores. Training will be provided in necessary functions.
Responsibilities
Assist with managing all laboratory compliance including Laboratory Safety, IACUC, and Radiation Safety.
Assist with the development and implementation of new imaging protocols.
Responsibilities may include the following laboratory duties: independently performing complex technical duties; monitoring and troubleshooting equipment; overseeing the ordering of supplies and maintenance of laboratory inventory.
Perform microPET/SPECT/CT equipment daily, monthly, periodic QA/QC protocols.
Receive radiotracer and dose preparation.
Assist with managing all radiation safety regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain updated written SOPs.
Perform laboratory duties including maintaining equipment, data and supplies.
Perform animal set up for imaging of mice and rats including animal anesthesia, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and intravenous injection of radioactive contrast agents and other solutions. Perform mouse and rat tail vein catheter placement and other minor surgical procedure.
Perform Ex vivo tissue harvest and biodistribution analysis using Gamma counter, perform autoradiography.
Help monitor compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.
Help develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan. Support data collection and analytical needs of research projects.
Conduct literature reviews and help write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
Performs other related work as needed.

Experience:
Prior exposure to academia and/or biomedical environment and/or research is strongly preferred.
Prior experience with animal research or handling.
