Health Care Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HCA Band 2 equivalent required to work within the renal speciality of haemodialysis looking after a cohort of 12 patients based in Llandrindod Wells Memorial Hospital.

Working hours are based on x3 long days (11.5 hrs)(LD) per week with one week of x4 LD second Thursday of each month which equates to full time hours of 150 per month. Unit operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 06.30 -18.00 hrs.

Role will include supporting patients with moving around, using mobility aids and repositioning to ensure comfort and safety. Assisting with nutrition as needed and dispensing tea and biscuits to our dialysis patients. Observation and monitoring by recording basic blood pressure and temperature, reporting any concerns to/changes to registered nurse.

Making beds, keeping patients' environment clean and tidy together with cleaning of dialysis machines.

Maintaining accurate and up to date records of patient care and simple ward clerking responsibilities - ordering of stock, filing, archiving, and general unit checks - stock replenishment, temperature checks, health and safety monitoring and fire checks. List is not exhaustive and will be discussed at interview.

We are a small friendly team and believe in putting the patient first in all that we do. Dialysis is unique in that we have a cohort of patients that stay with 52 weeks per year enabling staff to build a cohesive working environment that encompasses all patient care needs within a communal environment.

Healthcare experience an advantage but not essential for this role as full department training will be given.
