This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
Role Purpose:
The purpose of the role is to represent Everest as a lead market in this class of business. You will be expected to build and maintain core relationships with brokers and clients whilst assessing the suitability of risks under the supervision of the CUO giving consideration to cycle management, future trends and ultimately profitability.
Team Overview:
The role is supported by a Deputy Underwriter and the core priority of the team is to profitably manage and develop a significant London Market Motor Treaty Reinsurance portfolio
Key Accountabilities:
Profitably manage and develop a significant London Market Motor Treaty Reinsurance portfolio. An ability to lead and influence terms is paramount both on a Proportional and Excess of Loss basis. The role requires a blend of both technical expertise and experienced relationship management and the candidate should be equally comfortable liaising with actuarial colleagues or meeting senior representatives of clients and brokers.
Work with our colleagues across other business units to opine and advise on Motor opportunities throughout the organisation.
To maintain a focus on building and strengthening Everest's relationships with ceding companies and brokers.
To serve as the primary link with the Actuarial team on both pricing and reserving matters.
Manage accumulations across the group, reporting appropriately and in a timely fashion to the London Executive Committee and Head Office.
Contribute to underwriting meetings, quarterly business reviews, business planning and annual strategy meetings.
Travel and audit as appropriate.
Assist in managing, training and mentoring underwriting Assistants and junior colleagues.
The role is London based but candidate would be expected to liaise closely with colleagues worldwide throughout the group.
Professional Experience:
Significant experience within the London Motor (re)insurance market is essential
Strong broker relationships
Ideally have experience managing and developing individuals
Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
A good understanding of the technical assessment of risk in this class
In depth knowledge of the class and keeping on top of key developments within it
Clear and concise communication, both written and spoken
Collaborative mindset
Strong relationship management abilities
Willingness to share knowledge and use their experience to coach others
