About the Department
Job Summary
Responsibilities
Responsible for break-down and recycle or new build-up of flexible film isolators.
Responsible for film isolator clean out (maintaining sterility) and restocking between sterile cohorts.
Assists members of the GRAF in preparing equipment/supplies for experiments.
Performs basic support techniques (preparing supply cylinders, wrapping filters onto sterilization cylinders, operating autoclaves).
Assists with building, sterilizing and recycling equipment and materials.
Performs basic microbiology testing and other prescribed laboratory procedures.
Provides routine laboratory duties and supports research projects under direct supervision.
May assist with supply preparation and processing.
Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Education:
High School Diploma.
Experience:
Previous experience in an academic environment and biomedical research.
Experience in a scientific animal research setting or academic environment.
Preferred Competencies
Strong computer knowledge and skills: excel, etc.
Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
Willingness to work successfully as a member of a team, ability to communicate effectively with faculty, graduate students and various administrative offices at all levels of the University.
Ability to prioritize.
Must demonstrate ability to work on more than one project at one time and meet deadlines.
Capacity to handle multiple tasks in a short amount of time.
Working Conditions
Fair amount of walking/standing required.
Ability to lift and carry (short distances) up to 50 pounds.
Ability to use basic hand tools.
