The Opportunity

This position works out of our Costa Rica – Alajuela location in the  EP Division.  In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Facilities Engineer I, you will be responsible (under direct supervision from the Facilities Manager) to perform a variety or engineering assignments which include infrastructure projects & facilities maintenance at the site. These projects are directly related to the business and engineering department strategies on short and long term.

What You’ll Do

Interacts with external and internal clients on the scope of management and execution of projects related to the campus infrastructure for knowing and complying with the businesses and their necessities and expectations.Applies methodologies so the site and facilities projects can be done on time and at the best cost possible.Report the assignments results by means of metrics as established by our clients, management and business expectations.Supervise and perform projects related to the continuous improvement of our site existing facilities and utilities.By means of problem solving technics, performs troubleshooting of all facilities systems under its supervision.Promote continuous improvement of the facilities systems in order to comply with both internal and external clients.Support EMS and Energy Management System (EnMS) Programs and Initiatives related with Environmental, Health, Safety.Participates as a liaison between outside contractors, government and regulatory agencies and the engineering department.All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electromechanical or Maintenance Engineering or related. 1+ years of year of experience in a regulated industry (Medical, Pharmaceutical, or Electronics).Knowledge (at least 1+ years of experience) on power distribution, medium and low voltage, emergency power, fire detection and protection systems; and Electrical equipment selection, operation and maintenance.At least 1+ years of experience in HVAC (air compressors, potable water, RODI systems, others) equipment selection, operation and maintenance.Good knowledge of OSHA and ISO standards, & GMP’s.Knowledge in the following software: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.Intermediate command of English language required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working on night shift.Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.Master’s degree in project management, Business Administration or related field.Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry.Knowledge and practical experience in ISO 50001 and 14001.Experience with cleanroom environments a strong positive.Experience with direct supervision of employees.

SHIFT

Admin: (Monday to Friday 08:00 am to 5:00 pm).Works 100% on site
