Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) was established within Citigroup with the objective to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management and monitoring for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise.
This is an exciting new role to support ICM in Europe, particularly focused on Citigroup Global Markets Europe (CGME) and Citibank Europe plc (CEP). The position is based in Frankfurt, Germany.
The role requires subject matter expertise of wholesale credit and a broad and understanding of the different systems, theories, controls, quality assurance, and practices relevant to wholesale lending well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the region and legal entities within Citi’s broader strategic objectives, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in wholesale lending and credit risk management.
The role requires close liaison with various other business areas and functions (including wider ICM teams, first and second line teams, Business Managers, Control teams, Finance, Compliance as well as partner areas such as Operations and Technology) to ensure timely escalation and remediation of issues.
**Responsibilities:**
+ **Cluster support:** Support the regional Europe ICM Management team with credit risk oversight, governance and leadership activities as required to achieve business objectives
+ **Internal/External Reviews:** Partner with our Policy and Review teams for internal and external audit and compliance testing reviews, providing materials and address concerns arising from these reviews for the European legal entities as appropriate
+ **Credit Product Strategy:** Directs, designs and implements initiatives for the European legal entities and/or more broadly across wholesale lending (as applicable) particularly as these apply to:
+ Process and Policy improvements to drive efficiencies and excellence in client execution
+ Directing technology requirements to compel stronger and more reliable client outcomes and data improvements
+ Owning or contributing to Regulatory Remediations and Internal Issues closures with a focus on sustainable and efficient solutions that best serve clients while sustaining safety and soundness
+ Help to identify emerging risks and issues across European legal entities
+ **Drive initiatives:** Provide support and manage initiatives to enable ICM’s activities within and on behalf of the European legal entities, demonstrating consideration to drive compliance with applicable European and local/German laws, rules and regulations, in particular those obligations relevant to ICM under:
+ Circular 06/2024 (BA) Minimum Requirements for Risk Management (MaRisk), PUBN 127692
+ EU Capital Requirements Regulation and Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS), PUBN 139476
+ Market Abuse Regulation 596/2014 (MAR), PUBN 148340
+ Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (EU MiFID), PUBN 155186.
+ **Business Management:** Enables the efficient operation of ICM across the European continent and EMEA region more broadly, ensuring facilities and structures are in place
+ **Governance:** Support the CGME and CEP ICM Heads for key governance forums, including Boards as appropriate, and escalate through LE governance forums (eg, RMCs)
+ **Outsourcing:** Support inter-affiliate outsourcing and ICSA approvals and maintenance, and monitoring of services provided to the European legal entities, and ensuring ICM group-level teams are engaged as required on local regulatory and other requirements
+ **Active engagement with the CGME and CEP Management teams** in achieving their goals & initiatives when required to achieve business objectives
**Qualifications:**
+ Experience in extensive business management or credit risk experience
+ Experience in managing teams both directly and virtual
+ Excellent problem-solving skills- ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details
+ Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision
+ Can exercise independence of judgment
+ Excellent written and verbal communication
+ Interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of the organization and across different geographic locations
+ A proactive and “no surprises” approach in communicating issues
+ Range of experience demonstrating flexibility in skillset and approach
+ Experience with Citi or Wholesale Credit Risk is a plus
