Job Description

We're seeking a detail-oriented individual to perform environmental monitoring and sampling in cleanrooms and process areas.

Responsibilities include:

Performs environmental monitoring of biopharmaceutical manufacturing cleanrooms and process areas.Performs sampling of high-purity water, clean steam, and compressed gas systemsHandles, documents, and manages samples according to procedures and GMP requirementsMaintains laboratory supplies, media, and reagents inventoryPerforms lab support functions and inventory managementPerforms cleaning of controlled temperature units, operates the autoclave, and performs other basic lab support responsibilities.  Assists in coordinating equipment maintenance and calibration.Uses Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample and sample test result tracking.Maintains laboratory supplies, media, and reagents inventoryParticipates in the overtime, weekend, and holiday schedule as required.Participates in on-call scheduling as requiredParticipates in the training of other employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent relevant experience Understanding of microbes, microorganisms, and methods of contaminationExcellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitudeAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skillsAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industriesEnvironmental Monitoring experiencecGMP ExperienceExperience with LIMS

Additional Information

This position is an indoor lab-based position working in biopharmaceutical manufacturing cleanrooms and lab spaces. Position requires significant time spent in ISO 8 cleanrooms with the following restrictions:

No cosmetic products or applications (such as makeup, false lashes, spray tans etc) are permitted and must be removed before entryNails must be kept short, trimmed, and unadorned (no nail polish, rhinestones, etc)No jewelry may be worn (exceptions are medical alert-related and one smooth ring band that can be easily covered by a glove)Hair must be able to be neatly tied back and contained in a hairnet, and all facial hair must be neatly trimmed and able to be secured in a beard cover.

Ability to meet physical demands, including, but not limited to, routinely lifting objects of 25 lbs or more, walking and standing for extended periods, pushing or pulling carts and equipment, and bending down or reaching for supplies.

Additional Details: 

The position is full-time, Wed-Sat with an opening on first and second shift. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, New York, are encouraged to apply.
