Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacist RPH - Retail MI/WI directs overall day-today operations of retail pharmacy and assures compliance with all hospital, local, state, and federal regulatory standards. Provides patient-specific “drug use control” pharmacy services that strive to achieve optimal drug use outcome; the services provided shall compliment the hospital’s mission, provided to all patients, always promote safe, effective, rational, and cost-effective use of medications, continuously be assessed for quality improvement opportunities.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy [PharmD] degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES 

Minimum Required: Organized, goal directed, budget oriented, assertive and patient focused. Communication skills are needed to interpret and understand written prescriptions, formularies, and reference texts, as well as for presenting data and information on pharmaceuticals to those responsible using the agents and patients and/or caregivers. Ability to work under acutely varying and changing workloads. Knowledge of third-party reimbursement, charge, and billing process. Ability to supervise, coordinate and participate of the daily operations.

Preferred/Optional: Two to five years retail experience with hospital background preferred. Experience with specialty pharmacy desired.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Licensed in the applicable state or licensure eligible. Controlled substance license.
