A key member of the site leadership team, the Director of EH&S, drives safety, compliance, and operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Leading a dedicated team, this individual ensures alignment with health and safety protocols, industry standards, and medical device regulations. Collaborating with site leadership, the Director of EH&S supports the rapid development of innovative medical devices while maintaining a safe, efficient workplace. Success in this role requires deep expertise in EH&S standards, change-driven mind-set, and solutions-focused approach to navigating manufacturing challenges.
**How you’ll make an impact:**
+ Oversee EH&S programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies.
+ Lead strategic initiatives to enhance workplace safety, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
+ Develop and execute EH&S performance goals, budget planning, training programs, and communication strategies.
+ Serve as the primary liaison with local authorities and act as the EH&S Management Representative.
+ Drive talent development and leadership growth within the EH&S team.
+ Collaborate with plant leadership and corporate teams to implement standardized EH&S programs.
+ Establish and lead site-wide EH&S strategies, including occupational health, accident prevention, and hazardous materials handling.
+ Lead regulatory inspections, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented.
+ Conduct accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning with cross-functional teams.
+ Manage complex EH&S projects, identifying risks, defining solutions, and ensuring successful execution.
+ Analyze EH&S data, reporting key metrics to leadership and corporate EH&S teams.
+ Oversee third-party contractors on EH&S-related initiatives.
+ Lead the emergency response team and collaborate with HR on disability, wellness, and employee well-being programs.
+ Champion sustainability efforts, driving environmental initiatives in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Foster a continuous improvement mindset using Lean, Six Sigma, and EW Production System (EPS) principles.
**What you’ll need** :
+ Bachelor's degree in EH&S, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Extensive EH&S leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
+ Demonstrated experience building and managing high-performing teams.
+ Demonstrated experience driving strategic EH&S initiatives and improvements.
**What else we look for:**
+ Master’s Degree in a related field and 10-12 years of relevant EHS experience.
+ Expert understanding of EHS procedures while identifying applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.
+ Expert understanding of related environmental regulations (e.g., Air, water, waste, energy).
+ Expert understanding of general industry OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and ISO regulations.
+ Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of EHS to the business.
+ Proven successful project management leadership skills.
+ Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making
+ Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
+ Expert knowledge of financial mechanism that relates to EHS (e.g., budgeting).
+ Proficient in both Microsoft Office Suite and related systems.
