Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Water Resource Engineer for full-time employment. The position will be based in Denver, Colorado.
In this role, the successful candidate will perform engineering analyses for water resources and dam engineering projects for federal, state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will serve in a mid-level engineer role focused on executing project work and will work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer. Good coordination and collaboration skills will be required in this position.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Hydrologic analyses including flood frequency estimates, statistical hydrology, model preparation, calibration, and verification.Hydraulic structure modeling including weirs, orifices, spillways, and outlet works systems, using one- and two-dimensional modeling approaches as well as spreadsheet calculations.Dam breach analyses using one- and two-dimensional hydraulic modeling approaches and preparation of inundation maps.Supporting other dam engineering activities such as potential failure modes workshops, risk analyses, and emergency action planning.Preparing technical reportsPreparing drawings, specifications and calculations.Performing detailed reviews of technical deliverables prepared by others.Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling using various software packages (HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), FLOW-3D, HEC-HMS and SRH-2D)
Analysis and design of spillways and outlet works on dams, and working with the design team to develop drawings and specifications.Preparing inundation maps, technical reports and memorandums
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering2-4 years of professional work experiencePreferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with a focus on Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulics, or a related field.Professional Engineer in Colorado (or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and computation skill
Ability to work with a team consisting of several technical disciplines
Knowledge of civil engineering design
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointWorking knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and other Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)Additional InformationRelocation is not available for this position.Sponsorship is available for this position.About AECOM
