You will lead the production operations in the Plant and delivering key performance targets (SQCDSM) in safety, quality, productivity, volumes, cost, sustainability, organizational morale. You will ensure our manufacturing strategy is implemented and is fully effective and you will strive to build a high performing organization.
**How you will contribute**
You will:
+ Manages change/ transformation change/ transformation amongst the Operating teams in the implementation of IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma phase journey, FoF-Factory of Future Line centric organization & roles (AM-Autonomous Maintenance, PM-Progressive Maintenance and an integrated 6 star model within operating Line teams) to progress into Self sufficient teams. Role models Values and principles through effective coaching, mentoring and development of the team.
+ Support the Manufacturing annual operational plans and targets to meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, Engagement goals in line with the site Compelling business need. coach Line Leaders, cascade & communicate the plans and targets to employees to ensure alignment and understanding around priorities, focus and KPI’s.
+ Lead and be Accountable to establish a strong Governance to Review, Control Operational performance and Continuous Improvement plan and embed a zero loss mindset to constantly improve and deliver against best in class both internally and externally. Drive the Operating team to identify and manage improvements to technology, culture, capability and operating systems to deliver a best practice and reliable operation.
+ Support all Manufacturing standards, Governance, Compliance requirements (e.g. Corporate Quality, Food safety & GMP, Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Sustainability, Code of conduct, Policies & principles, Operational standards, Local legal requirements, Internal Audit norms, & other procedures updated from time to time) are in place, understood by all, and is regularly reviewed and monitored for effective implementation.
+ Lead and be Accountable for Talent, Capabilities & Engagement for the Manufacturing team - identify and implement critical levers to attract, retain & develop critical talent and builds capability at all levels, technical and behavioral, to build a sustainable workforce profile for the future. Partner effectively with all multi-functional peers internally & externally (outside the plant) to achieve objectives, goals and KPI’s.

**More about this role**
Mondelez International is seeking a highly experienced and licensed Chief Engineer – Powerhouse to lead utility operations at our Toronto manufacturing facility located at 277 Gladstone Avenue. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all powerhouse systems including ammonia refrigeration, boilers, steam, compressed air, and water systems. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Ontario TSSA First Class Operating Engineer License , and bring strong leadership and technical expertise to oversee a team of stationary engineers and technicians.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Oversee daily operation and maintenance of all powerhouse equipment, including ammonia-based refrigeration systems, high-pressure steam boilers, air compressors, and water systems.
+ Ensure all systems operate in compliance with TSSA, OHSA, Environmental, and Mondelez safety regulations.
+ Supervise and develop a team of operating engineers and utility technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Maintain and manage compliance records, inspection logs, operating certificates, and maintenance documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
+ Lead risk assessments and root cause analysis for equipment issues or safety incidents, implementing corrective actions promptly.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EHS, Maintenance, and Production to ensure reliable utility support for plant operations.
+ Drive energy efficiency, sustainability, and reliability improvements across utility systems.
+ Manage capital and maintenance projects related to powerhouse infrastructure upgrades.
+ Participate in the plant’s emergency response team and support all site safety initiatives.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Valid TSSA First Class Operating Engineer Certificate (First Class preferred).
+ Minimum 7–10 years of experience in powerhouse operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (preferred).
+ In-depth technical knowledge and hands-on experience with ammonia refrigeration systems, steam boilers, compressed air, and utility distribution systems.
+ Strong understanding of Ontario regulatory requirements (TSSA, OHSA, WSIB, MOE).
+ Proven experience in supervising technical staff, coordinating maintenance, and managing operational compliance.
+ Proficient in CMMS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
+ Demonstrates coaching, mentorship capabilities
+ Good understanding of Refrigeration Plant, Steam Plant, Air Plant and CO2 Plant, Waste Water Plant is essential
+ Demonstrated Ammonia experience (Ammonia and Steam PSM)
+ SAP / ERP experience
+ Previous supervisory experience is preferred
+ Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to problem solving
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience in the food manufacturing industry or similar regulated environment.
+ Training in Process Safety Management (PSM) and hazardous substance handling.
+ Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
