The Opportunity

This position works out of our Costa Rica – Alajuela location in the  EP Division.  In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Buyer III, you will be responsible to to ensure materials, services and supplies used in the Facility are procured at competitive pricing and that quality/quantities are appropriated. This may include obtaining price quotes, specifications and other information required for purchasing decisions. May also include supplier performance tracking and reporting. Locates, recommends of alternative supply in line with requirements.

What You’ll Do

Prepares PO’s per requirements of MRP/requisitions and monitors delivery of product against PO’sCoordinates the return of damaged goods, replacement items, or credit arrangements.Arrange for vendor corrective action and work with SQE and supplier to improve quality.Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventories in support of production schedules, work with suppliers to maintain supplies to minimize shortages of supplies.Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. This includes driving continuous improvements with the supplier base.Monitor Supplier Performance/Communicate and Take Action to Maintain High Level of Supplier Performance.Sourcing/quoting requirements for goods and services required to support the division objectives.Materials filing and administrative support.Maintain and update Supplier Data base (ASL) as required.Supplier evaluation and management.Materials support for new R&D projects.Maintain inventory levels based on forecast.Communicating clear, concise information via phone, e-mail or other methods.Work with inventory control to resolve issues.Special projects intended to reduce cost, increase efficiency, etc.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Administration, Finance, Engineering or related.3+ years of experience in a materials / procurement environment.Advanced computer skills in a Windows based environment.Understanding of MRP, purchasing, and production principles.Able to identify and implement cost savings opportunities and implement plans to realize savings. Intermediate command of English language.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the medical manufacturing field desirable.Statistical data analysis and report writing skills is a plus.Basic project management skills desirable.Basic business planning and strategic thinking desirable.Knowledge of ISO, GMP, JIT, ERP, SAP and Lot control desirable.

ADMIN (Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)Works 100% on site.
