This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Beef Optimization Technical Specialist will be responsible for enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of beef carcass yield assessment. This role involves improving yield predictions, investigating novel technologies, assisting the supply chain team, and optimizing downstream value. You will provide technical expertise and support to supply chain and operations.

Key Accountabilities

Provide onsite technical support and customer solutions

Improve beef yield predictions, analyze in-house data, and test new technologies for accuracy and efficiency of measurement

Present project data, assist with determining value to the business, and develop strategies to implement and maintain new technologies

Stay updated on product insights and research

Support the supply chain in maintaining carcass yield standards

Enhance value by optimizing carcass cutting processes

Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Minimum of four years of related work experience (can include experience gained in graduate or academic programs)

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or PhD degree, preferably in a discipline related to Meat Science or Animal Science

Passion for understanding, creating, and communicating value and solutions to team members and customers

Experience in primary beef processing

Experience using advanced statistical modeling to predict beef fabrication yields

Ability to evaluate and manage large data sets

Passion for investigating novel technologies for the beef industry and determining their practical application
