Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to lead in the development and execution of the Mexico underwriting strategy and support to the Active Underwriter and the wider underwriting community across Everest Global Markets in its delivery.

Core Responsibilities:

Underwrite the risks of Professional Civil Liability, Directors and Executives, Medical Malpractice and related linesEnsure the correct use of underwriting authorities provided by the Parent companyGenerate production budgets associated with Financial Lines Review goals and other tasks that directly relate to the underwriting activity of Financial Lines Support the expansion of the Financial Lines account in line with Syndicate plans and underwriting strategy, while maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of both Syndicate and Everest internal plansDevelop a sound understanding of the underwriting strategy for areas of responsibilityActively participate in execution of the marketing plan, including maintenance of existing broker & customer relationships and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business PlanActively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accountsDevelop the skills required to manage a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting & pricing, claims, referral, processing, broker and client relationship aspects; and servicing any new business request in the same wayRepresent Everest at meetings both in the office and during visits to brokers, Coverholders and other customers as requiredSupport the Head of Financial Lines as required, and senior underwriters on specific accountsData entry to support / maintain MIRefer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority Monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own account and support the Head of Financial Lines across the broader portfolioLiaise with the Claims Manager on claims related issuesParticipate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as requiredEnsure all processing and MI is up to date in respect of any individual accountsMonitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and complianceAssist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, and website as required Underwrite in compliance with Everest prescribed underwriting standards Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses

                                                                                                         

Skills & Competencies:  

Previous experience within the insurance industry, ideally an underwriting role, as well as good technical knowledge of Financial Lines Progression towards ACII qualification, or desire to completeStrategic – ability to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our businessJudgment / decision making – ability to use logic rationale and objectivity in decision making Risk taking – ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favorable outcomes Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externallyDemonstrate a broader interest is the Financial Lines business, and financial aspects

Desired Skills & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 10 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience is desirable Prior supervisory and/or operations experience preferred Demonstrated expertise of commercial property & casualty insurance forms and coverages, practices, terminology, and processing procedures Demonstrated capabilities in coaching and developing underwriters on insurance concepts and practices Insurance Producer License preferred Demonstrated Learning and Development through designation achievement Existing relationships with brokers handling business in the targeted segments Strong interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication skillsEffective negotiation skills with the ability to find “win/win” solutionsAbility to stay organized in a fast paced and high intensity work environment with the ability to effectively prioritize tasksWilling to take initiative, function independently and be entrepreneurial with the highest standards of ethics and professionalismStrong attention to detailCommitment to customer service as a differentiator
