What the day will look like Leading a team of regional Claims Professionals servicing domestic & international clients Supporting and leading the strategic National Claims vision Utilizing operational expertise to ensure processes, technical and legal requirements are being met Providing subject matter expertise for major claims issues in the Atlantic region and as directed by the National Claims Director Lead successful implementation of future strategies in relation with national/regional/local business needs Developing relationships and maintaining channels of communication with the top claims personnel of all the major insurers with whom Aon conducts business Negotiation both coverage and quantum with underwriters on behalf of major clients Handling error & omission negotiations with insurers in conjunction with Regional Broking Leader Monitoring and addressing losses with Account Executives Reviewing and recommending strategic actions according to trend analysis reports generated from claims staff on a national/regional/local basis Developing and implementing performance & service standards for claims advocacy activities at regional level Maintaining up to date knowledge of legal and regulatory changes as they relate to insurance Establishing goals/development plans, coaches direct reports on the attainment of objectives and provides performance feedback Consulting with clients on major losses, providing guidance and assistance with emphasis on claims preparation, submission and resolution Analyzing claims and coverage issues while guiding the claims process Researching legal decisions and judgements on insurance contracts and claims as required Take the lead position with Account Managers, Brokers and Regional Leadership to resolve coverage disputes with insurers Prepare reports on claims disputes/sensitive claims for strategic review and resolution Make recommendations to clients as appropriate for alternative dispute resolution Developing and coordinating a claims resolution team working with legal counsel or others as may be appropriate Attending claims settlement meetings with clients and insurers Develop and maintain working relationships with other claims professionals Maintain accurate time management records for billing purposes Leads by example by demonstrating and sharing with all lines of business the importance of best practices and; Preform other related duties as assigned. How this opportunity is different Under the direction by the National Claims Director, you will be the functional regional leader that is committed to the ongoing delivery if Aon’s distinctive client value mandate by representing Aon’s Claims Advocacy to our clients, acting as subject matter expert on the technical and legal aspects of claims operations. Skills and experience that will lead to success Minimum 7 – 10 years of commercial claims experience; Proven leadership and people management experience; General insurance experience ; Ability to work collaboratively as a key member a team and independently with minimum supervision Client relationship focused Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize under pressure of competing deadlines Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with the Microsoft Office Package Completion of Post Secondary Education and/or F.C.I.P.
