An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director, Laboratory Operations Microbiology at our site in Brinny. The Associate Director, Laboratory Operations will be responsible for the management of the Microbiology Laboratory within Ireland (Brinny) and will report to the Director of Laboratory Operations.
What you will do:
Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and leadership to carry out the following activities within the role:
Effectively manage Microbiology Supervisors and wider team to optimise performance & delivery within the Microbiology LaboratoryContinuously develop the test and support systems within the Microbiology Laboratory to a state of optimal performanceEnsure accurate and timely processing of samples for microbiological cultures, sensitivity testing, and identification.Manage and co-ordinate investigations, management, and subsequent resolutionCo-ordination of the area resources to deliver a quality and efficient support serviceDevelopment of Microbiology personnel and provision for succession planningDelivery of Microbiology Laboratory performance to meet or exceed performance and quality goalsControl of area expenditure within budgetary limitsContribute to site management operational and strategic initiativesEnsure compliance with cGMP and other business compliance regulationsEstablish the EHS Objectives for your department and allocate adequate resources, including instruction and training, for their accomplishmentParticipate in risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, etc, and implement and follow-up related CAPA’sDrive recruitment and selection of competent personnel in your area when requiredParticipate and comply with the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, as relevant to youResponsible for driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by deploying the company’s Production System (PS) toolsWhat skills you will need:

Leadership skillsTechnical knowledgeAbility to respond to changing prioritiesProblem solving skillsCommunication skillsScientific qualification (preferably Microbiology) and relevant experience in pharmaceutical laboratory management.What experience you will need:
Demonstrated knowledge in pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing operation (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, etc)At least 5 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating environment which includes significant leadership roles with experience in a front-line supervisory role in operations environment.Knowledge of and experience in applying Lean methodologies.Demonstrated leadership and change management skills with a continuous improvement focus.What qualifications you will need:
Degree or 3rd level qualification (Science/Microbiology/Quality).
