The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) was established in May 2019 and evolved from the Institute for Molecular Engineering, which was founded in 2011. The PME integrates science and engineering to address global challenges from the molecular level up. The PME’s rigorous academic and research programs are made possible through the University of Chicago’s unique partnership with Argonne National Laboratory. The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering is the first new school at the University of Chicago in three decades and the first school in the nation dedicated to molecular engineering. In the next growth phase as a School, the PME will continue to expand its team of world-class faculty researchers and empower students from diverse backgrounds to collaborate with faculty in cutting-edge facilities. The PME aims to bring solutions for urgent societal problems to the forefront while training the next generation of scientific leaders and entrepreneurs.


Job Summary

The Academic Engagement Program Manager will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean by coordinating, managing, and tracking programs for the Academic Engagement and Strategy (AES) unit. This role involves working closely with faculty, students, administrators, and external partners to enhance academic experiences and promote collaborative initiatives. The Program Manager will provide comprehensive support to AES leadership, including the Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Outreach, and Senior Director of Career Development in managing student programs and services. This role involves overseeing student engagement initiatives, coordinating campus activities, and fostering a supportive environment for student development and success. The position may require occasional travel and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program needs.

Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive support to the S.enior Associate Dean, including but not limited to, calendaring, ordering, and general support to effectively manage AES.Designs, develops, and implements metrics for academic engagement and strategy programs and activities.Assists in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of student programs/services, suggesting adjustments as needed.Helps manage various student engagement initiatives such as orientation, outreach, career development, and wellness programs.Develops program goals, objectives, and timelines in alignment with the Senior Associate Dean’s vision.Maintains effective communication channels with all stakeholders.Collaborates with PME Marketing and Communications to market and develop promotional materials for engagement programs. Uses social media and other platforms to promote events and activities.Ensures effective communication and promotion of events to maximize student participation.Tracks and reports out on event participation and feedback for the purpose of strategic planning.Supports and helps coordinate PME events, activities, and workshops that foster student engagement and community building. Partners with student services areas to support their programs and activities.Supports the Senior Associate Dean in developing and implementing strategies to increase student and faculty engagement. Works with team leaders to provide support and resources to faculty for aligning student and postdoc engagement activities with their research training and cohort development.Helps organize workshops, seminars, and events to support student, post-doctoral and career development initiatives.Facilitates partnerships with staff, academic departments, and campus organizations to enhance student support services.Coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure the alignment of program objectives with institutional goals. Maintains effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.Collects and analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of student programs and services. Collects and analyzes data to assess program impact and outcomes.Prepares reports and presentations on program outcomes and student satisfaction. Provides data to inform program improvements and decision-making.Prepares and maintains program documentation, including reports, schedules, presentations, and records. Provides regular updates and reports to the Senior Associate Dean.Assists in developing and managing the budget for student programs and services.Monitors expenditures and ensures programs are delivered within budget constraints.Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Experience:

2-5 years of experience in program management or a related role.Background in an academic or educational setting is highly desirable.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
